Question #2:

Tap that YAP!! (if you want to get closer, don't you have to get a little less inhibited?)?

Hey you guys, I have something to share.
Is this a poem? Phrased as a question?
I DON'T CARE!
I know poetry, and passion,
both I find abundant here,
where a man can love another man
and we all know they aren't queer;
the heart has mindless magnetic force,
I'm attracted by polarity, of course,
but I understand my equals, my opposites (in re-verse)
are all part of a quantum system, better or worse,
I am bound by vows of something way too gigantic
that scuttles beneath seas from Pacific to Atlantic,
and rises like satellites that believe we are stars
when they pick up these lttlle sparkly sigs of ours.
Have some cigars, and Freud, you were not always right-
there are things that are evolved yet still primal, despite
the inherent chemistry between bodies I have tapped
a far more intimate connection. Ooh, baby. I GOT 'YApped'!!
Man I KNEW that people would zoom right in on that little factor and NOT feel my love message!

'Cept Sin. *winx back*

Question #3:

Does anyone like magnetic poetry?

I have this great idea (well, i think it is great...)
at least i think it is creative and will be a hit if i use the right words...
anyway, my question is: do you like magnetic poetry (the kind where there are little words on strips of magnets for fridge or locker)? please just say what you feel about it, and if you know anyone else who likes it/ uses it. thanks!

Question #4:

do u think i could publish a book of poems?

ok. i have just started writing poetry and im wondering if im good here is an example of my poetry:

you stare deeply with your shadowy eyes
as we stand at lover's width
your fingers roll upon my hands
im close enough to feel your breath
temptations are overwhelming
a simple touch now all i seek
your seductive glare weakens my knees
your touch, your lips
i cant resist
your magnetic forces pulls me in
as i softly touch your lips

Question #5:

(RE-POST) "Fluid Mechanics" - Opinions, Critique and Feedback are most welcome?

I wrote this a few days ago, but it was then removed to a group of 'trolls' stalking my account who I have now weeded out of my fans list and blocked. I was hoping for feedback on this poem, and the offer of any improvements would be greatly appreciated!

Out of all my poetry - I probably spent the longest writing this.

Fluid Mechanics.

The wondrous study of materials that flow
Of the vortex in the river, or the wave at a ship's bow
The science that tells us how best to fly
That helps engineers perfect their design for water supply.

You study viscosity and turbulence, and the force of the air
Which can propel an aircraft or make you stand at the waves and stare
The mechanics of how honey flows slower than tea
The mechanism of the bee buzzing, what mystery

It has captivated scientists for centuries strong
From Da Vinci and Reynolds to the oceanographer, Long
Taught man how to extract petroleum from the Earth's deep
How our ears receive sound, how our eyes do weep

Rheology, combustion, hydraulics or speed
The essential understanding of fluids is what we need
Whether blood in the veins or the swimming style
It will fall all into place after a while.

The research of Von Karman, Prandtl, Takhar and Biot
Without their work, engineering would run riot
Magnetic flows, bio-fluids, or the behaviour of fire
Fluid mechanics explains it all, absolutely, dear squire.

By - Liam Smith.

The only line I personally feel that doesn't 'fit' is -

"Which can propel an aircraft or make you stand at the waves and stare" - but I'm sure from the point of others there may be more. So offer of improvement upon this piece would be welcomed!

Thank you for reading and I hope everyone is well!

Question #6:

I used to have dozens and dozens of friends. Now I have no friends. what's my problem?

I used to be very popular all through elementary school, middle school, high school and college. I always had a boyfriend and tons of guys asking me out. Everyone said I was the most popular girl at school and I was always invited to all of the parties and people would always throw me huge surprise parties etc... but I was not conceited about it at all. I was just happy and grateful and people also said I was so nice, funny and outgoing and that was why they loved me. They said I had a magnetic personality and I was the "glue" of all the different groups of friends. I would be on the phone all night every night with tons of best girlfriends and guy friends. I would have to choose between parties because I was invited to so many.

But for the last eight years since college, it's been the complete and utter opposite! I have no friends. Nobody calls me. I counted how many phone calls I received in the last year and it was 6. I have been out to dinner or a party only about 10 nights this entire year. I am still the same person. When I do interact with people, I'm always outgoing and have the similar interests, tastes and comedic timing as people with tons of friends. When I happen to be in a social situation for instance with my roommates or when I meet people randomly, I can talk to anyone about everything from fashion and pop culture to philosophy, poetry and human rights depending where the conversation leads. (but I don't force these topics on people. I can just as well talk about the weather). People say I make awesome points and they love to talk to me. And yet I am still home alone every night of the week and weekend and never have anyone to go to dinner or movies or bars with. I reach out to the people I know best and even to people I don't know very well. From an outsiders perspective it would seem that I have a million friends and am always off to some sort of awesome party when really I'm off somewhere to read alone. (And I don't lie and say I'm going to glamorous parties, but my closest friend told that everyone just assumes that.)

I don't know if people assume I have friends, so they don't reach out or if I'm doing something wrong. It feels like a catch 22 because I might end up going to drinks once in a blue moon with old friends and new people I meet, but since I don't have parties or social events to invite them to, we don't hang out frequently and nobody seems interested in just hanging out with only me when I suggest something to do. Does anyone know what the problem is???

(Also, the positive things I mentioned above regarding my personality is just feedback I get from others, but I'm not egotistical and I don't brag or tell people everything I just wrote above- I'm just including what friends and acquaintances have told me in the past and even recently to you guys in this Yahoo post, so you have a clearer idea of my situation and can maybe help me.)

I don't have a job right now because I'm a writer and am taking classes, but I've had two steady jobs in the last eight years and have done all the things you're "supposed" to do to make friends- joined clubs, volunteered, taken classes with people my age who share my interests etc... But my phone continues to remain silent almost every night! Any advice??

Question #8:

Can anyone tell me what game this is/was?

I used to play this game quite awhile ago and I have completely forgotten the name of it and where I played it. Hoping someone can guide me in the right direction. The object of the game was to take the words given (they looked just like magnetic poetry for the fridge) and make funny sentences. After all the submissions, the players vote on the best sentence. BTW, I have done some searches and found a game called Farragomate but it is not what i am looking for.

Question #9:

Is Islams contribution to society summed up nicely by this quote?

…As a student of history, I also know civilization's debt to Islam. It was Islam – at places like Al-Azhar University (1st university in the World)– that carried the light of learning through so many centuries, paving the way for Europe's Renaissance and Enlightenment. It was innovation in Muslim communities that developed the order of algebra; our magnetic compass and tools of navigation; our mastery of pens and printing; our understanding of how disease spreads and how it can be healed. Islamic culture has given us majestic arches and soaring spires; timeless poetry and cherished music; elegant calligraphy and places of peaceful contemplation. And throughout history, Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality

Question #10:

Needs help with names?

I'm writing a story set in the fictional New Jersey town of Blaire in the county of Monmouth, it is a small waterfront town which deals mainly in summertime tourism and fishing. It is considered a small town yet has an Elementary, Middle and High School, Hospital and it's own permanent fairground. There is a waterfront promenade with cafe's, stores and hotels where most of the younger people in town get their jobs. Behind that is a small shopping district and a large suburban area, the story is set in 1970 and I need names for the various places.

1. A Crab Restaurant, family oriented place with a big plastic crab on the face of the building.

2. A cheap gas station with a 50's style diner inside one of those metallic buildings with the booths and the bar.

3. A pleasant looking waterfront hotel with shuttered windows and potted plants, all the rooms have peppermints on the pillows of the beds.

4. A rather greasy spoon fast food restaurant with a clown as it's mascot, has a drive through and sells hamburgers, onion rings etc, menu very similar to Dairy Queen.

5. A sprawling country club with a spa, golf course, tennis courts and swimming pool.

6. A small funfair amongst the rocks besides the beach, away from the water. There is a small wooden roller coaster, ferris wheel, a tunnel of love, food and game stalls, a carousel, a crooked house, ghost train and a zipper ride.

7. A family owned pharmacy/drug store.

8. A seedy looking Pawn Shop.

9. A classy looking Coffee Shop with dark leather seats and black and white photography on the walls.

10. A tavern with an inn above, pool tables and a juke box, is known for attracting bikers.

11. The town hall where they hold meetings, have theatre plays and host talent shows and the local beauty pageant "Blaire Teen Princess".

12. A rather pleasant looking, but slightly run down cinema with 3 screen rooms and a big awning with the magnetic letters on a white board, usually shows matinee.

13. A big drive in cinema on the edge of town which shows horror and sci fi flicks, a popular haunt for teens.

14. A pizzaria with white, green and red tiled walls and a pinball machine up front, the owner is a friendly yet slightly unkempt Italian.

15. A little club with a open mic stage for karaoke, poetry and stand up comedy. Sells hard liqour and the menu mainly consists of seafood.

16. A hardware store, slightly big and has a large parking lot. The owner has a shotgun in his office and has a penchant for making sure teenagers stay out of trouble.

17. A small nightclub on the water front with a bright and zany interior and a dance floor, a mirror ball and a stage for up and coming bands. Owned by a woman called Pinky with pink hair.

Thanks so much for helping me out guys!
the place where they hold Town Hall meetings isn't the town hall, if it was that I wouldn't of bothered to list it. Something like the Howard Building or Thymes Theatre
No. 17 is 'The Flamingo'

No. 16 is 'Jack's Home Saloon'

No. 12 is 'Mainstreet Matinee'

No. 4 is 'Pledger's'

No.2 is 'Cooper's Gas' and the diner is called 'Audra's'

No. 12 is 'The Blue Moon Drive-In Cinema'

Question #11:

How should I make magnetic poetry for the wall?

I've just cleared off a wall and want to turn the entire wall into an area for something like magnetic poetry, where I could print out and cut out a bunch of words and somehow attach them to my wall and moving them around, forming sentences. Of course, my wall isn't a magnet. I don't want to poke a million holes in my walls either. Does anyone have some creative ideas as to how I can achieve this?

Question #12:

What do you think about this poem/piece of literature?

This place is covered in smoke
I’m not sure if it’s from the tobacco
Or the dope
We stashed in the closet
I can’t see you

Oh.
You’re contributing to
The fume in this room
And by the sound of your voice-
You’ve had your fill

Tequila Sunrise
(Number seven)
I think you’ve had enough
You’re on your way
To that oblivious dimension

Who isn’t?

The bottle’s on the floor
Spinning round and round
The force of friction from the rug
So happens to direct it towards
Me.

You laugh, get up from your
Reserved spot on the rug, and you
Wobble your way towards myself
Your hands melt around my hair
As you bring my lips to yours

The vapor slithers
From your mouth to mine
And your breath
Of toxic paraphernalia
Lusts on my tongue

The alcohol’s opened
A whole new scope
Of feelings
For both players
Of the field

Although you are
Quite shot off reality
From your essence
I can smell,
Through any delusion or drug

That your wasted heart reeks
Of magnetic
Pull
Of secret
Want...

For me.

I don't know how to classify this, I don't think it's poetry. How do you find it? Comments, suggestions, compliments :)
Yes, I did write this, Thanks! It didn't happen though, I found the inspiration from a scene in the movie 'Garden State'.

Question #13:

Wrote this poem yeterday, what do you think?

I get out of bed after a sleepless night.
Just thinking of you and feeling of shite.
I had you and lost you, you're gone for good
i want you and need you and dont know if i should,
call you to see if you are feeling the same,
i know its my fault and its me to blame.
But after all those years of friendship and love,
we cannot be silent and cannot give up.
I will love you forever, are you to blind to see?
that our love is magnetic, its so meant to be.
Behind our arguements and all our fights,
are beautiful years and interesting nights.
Where we stayed up late just cuddling in bed,
we would lie there all night til our eyes were red,
and we could not sleep because our love was a flame,
that i nearly put out as i put you to shame.
Yet that flame still burns heavy in my light empty heart
The flame burns smaller the longer apart.
This is an attempt you win you back,
because my heart is breaking, forming a crack,
that will later turn into pieces of sad,
pieces of regret that will drive me mad.
So please come back,my arms open wide,
to hold you and love you for the rest of my time.

This took me about 20 minutes. Im 15 and really love writing poetry. Critisize if you want, will help me improve my writing

Question #16:

What do you think of this poem?

I wrote it using magnetic poetry, and I really liked it, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy. :)

Tell me what you think... but more than that, please give me feedback!

We surround the translucent universe,
Sailing on.
Will voices worry those who remember?

Eternity in a lifetime.
Young hope, poison to the soul.
That was yesterday.

You seep through my voice,
One more word, one more worry.
With each new breath, I know.
The end isn't so far.

Question #17:

Truth or lies behind nObama's speech?

As a student of history, I also know civilization's debt to Islam. It was Islam - at places like al-Azhar University - that carried the light of learning through so many centuries, paving the way for Europe's Renaissance and Enlightenment. It was innovation in Muslim communities that developed the order of algebra; our magnetic compass and tools of navigation; our mastery of pens and printing; our understanding of how disease spreads and how it can be healed. ummmm lol wow they invented the compass and algebra? pretty sure greeks started algebra and central american's invented the compass.. why would he make statements that are that far off??
Most scholars credit at present the invention of the compass to China. The first mention of the magnetic attraction of a needle is to be found in a Chinese work composed between 20 and 100 AD. The earliest recorded actual use of a magnetized needle for navigational purposes is in AD 1117.
The true mariner's compass used a pivoting needle in a dry box, and was invented in Europe no later than 1300... according to wiki Islam had the compass in 1232ad... ummmm ????
and both of my added details came from the web sites you provided. so read a lil deeper and you will see where i got the ref..
and Babylonians were not muslim so that would not be a muslim invention..... but its ok.. maybe you just woke up........
lol sorry the first part of this was a quote from nObama's speech in cairo. I'm in no way a history student, I'm only trying to develop a conversation so I can better understand what was said. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, but saying they developed the tech would be like saying China developed stealth but after USA invented it.. ?? the context in his speech led me to believe he was making a statement saying Muslim's invented/developed, without help, these mentioned tech. I'm not at all challenging his statements about architecture or the many things they have brought to this country. Although I almost died laughing at the tolerance and equality statement. If anyone can show me where a synagogue is located in an Arab country I would be most interested. Again this was only to invoke people to do their own research and to correct me where I am wrong. As I'm sure I am in some areas. Thank you all for your input.
Vollyballchick- take a look at this YA page..

I was just going to cut and paste what was said but that would take away from that persons research. What is your thoughts about what was said? I have never read the Quran and probably never will read all of it. But they do have allot about killing infidels.. Who are infidels considered to be? Thank you for your response and for helping me with this question, I value everyone's opinion and look forward to many more informative answers.

Question #18:

Where can you buy magnetic poetry kits?

Either in stores on online.

Question #19:

I wrote a poetry for all u astronomophiles out there, u liek?

Twas the night before December twenty-first, two-thousand twelve
and all through the LHC, researchers did delve

into evil magics, sorceries and "science."
Silhouetted by lightning, their shadows were giants

The dipoles were hung by the helium tanks with care
In hopes that black holes soon would be there

The scientists were nestled behind a great wall of lead
While visions of mass-destruction danced in their heads

And strewn about the lab were vials of green of goo
What their purpose was, no one really knew

When from behind the collider there arose such a crackle
I sprang from my research to hear one scientist cackle

Across the super-cooled magnets I saw a great flash
The helium was leaking, the tanks had collapsed!

And the moon's orbit grew THREE SIZES that day
And umm... crap, wrong poem. sorry, lame.

When what to my wondering eyes should come forth
But a miniature black hole and six tiny quarks!

Outside, the lightning flashed, I heard the thunder boom
And I knew in a moment that we were all doomed

More rabid than badgers the particles came
And I heard the researchers call them by name

"One Bottom, one Top, a Strange and Graviton,
A Charm, Up and Down, and the Higgs Boson!

Now around the collider, past the synchrotron
Into ATLAS and ALICE, fly fermions!"

As tornados formed and wild hurricanes flied
They met with the protons and tore holes in spacetime

So Up to the house-Top the particles flew
Bounced off the beakers and spilled the green goo

And then, in a twinkling, I heard a great sound
'Twas the rumble of a meteor crashing down to the ground

As I drew in my hand and was turning around,
Down in a spaceship Xenu came with a bound

He placed fusion bombs at a volcano's foot
and the sun was blocked out by ashes and soot

Just when I thought it couldn't get worse
The magnetic poles began to reverse

And I saw in the stars, galactic alignment occured
While a gamma-ray burst radiated the world

And the sun hit solar max and an ice age began
How they both happened at once I don't understand

And then omg, the bees all died out
(due to lack of vegetation, no doubt)

Then the sky began to clear, and I forgot about fear
The world hadn't ended, and I was still here!

Pisces was out, Aquarius was in --
It was time for the age of enlightenment to begin!

I was ecstatic, and feeling quite blessed
Until the Earth smashed into Nibiru X.
Oh, thanks for you input, grammar nazis. Why didn't you call me out on "astronomophile" while you were at it?

Question #20:

Survey: would you besmirch a refrigerator that didn't belong to you?
