Creative Writing - writing prompt Questions

Question #1:

Are actvists very upset over Republicans Demand Immigration Status of Terrorists calling it profiling?

We guess immigration is never not an issue, even in putting terrorists on trial.

Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee today are demanding to know the immigration status of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and other 9/11 plotters, should they be brought to the United States to stand trial.

Their fear is that KSM and his henchmen might seek asylum under immigration laws, setting all kinds of worrisome precedents.

“As you can imagine, even if they are not ultimately eligible for relief, terrorist detainees may seek legal rights under our immigration laws or assert such rights in federal court, thereby setting a precedent that could have grave consequences for the American public,” they write in a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. “These consequences should weigh heavily in any decision President Obama and the administration make about transfer of these detainees to the United States.”

So, in this scenario, these characters who would be brought here to face a death penalty trial, also would ask the United States for asylum here. Uh oh. What if they can buy insurance under the Senate health reform bill? Hmmm…

The letter is after the jump.

WASHINGTON—U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, yesterday joined the Republican members of the committee in sending the following letter to Attorney General Eric Holder and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano:

The Honorable Eric Holder The Honorable Janet Napolitano Attorney General Secretary U.S. Department of Justice Department of Homeland Security 950 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Nebraska Avenue Complex Washington, D.C. 20530 245 Murray Lane, Mailstop 0150 Washington, D.C. 20528-0150

Dear Attorney General Holder and Madam Secretary:

At today’s Department of Justice oversight hearing, Senator Cornyn asked three simple, but very significant questions, about the immigration status of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM) and other detainees once they are brought to the United States for criminal trial. Specifically, what immigration status will they hold and what legal rights will flow from that status? Can KSM and other detainees file a claim for asylum or request that they not be removed based on the Convention Against Torture? What are the legal implications for filing (or precluding filing) of such claims?

As you can imagine, even if they are not ultimately eligible for relief, terrorist detainees may seek legal rights under our immigration laws or assert such rights in federal court, thereby setting a precedent that could have grave consequences for the American public. These consequences should weigh heavily in any decision President Obama and the administration make about transfer of these detainees to the United States.

Thank you and we look forward to your prompt response.

Question #2:

Any ideas for my paper?

This is the prompt for my essay: Define what effective communication means for a group you are part of or know about. Support your ideas with concrete examples, details, and explanations.

I have no idea what to write about.

Question #3:

MATLAB HELPPPPPPPP!!!! PLZZzzz?

2.Write a program which prompts the user to input an integer, m, and then prints out m! (Note: you are not allowed to use the Matlab factorial function – the goal is to write your own factorial function. In addition to this you may not use vectors to generate a “list” of all the factorial numbers, it should be done using only individual variables).

(Hint: For both of the above will find it helpful to use for loops as well as if statements)

3.evaluate y= √1+ √1+ √1+ √…..as accurately as you see fit.

Question #4:

Would you care to help me c++?

So I'm supposed to write a program that uses the following functions:

Fill_array() takes as arguments the name of an array of double values and an array size. It
prompts the user to enter double values to be entered in the array. It ceases taking input when
the array is full or when the user enter a negative number, and it returns the actual number of
entries.

Show_array() takes as arguments the name of an array of double values and an array size and
displays the contents of the array.

Reverse_array() takes as arguments the name of an array of double values and an array size and
reverses the order of the values stored in the array.

The program should use these functions to fill an array, show the array, reverse the array, show
the array, reverse all but the first and last elements of the array, and then show the array.

Here is what i have so far:

#include <iostream>
using namespace std;

int fill_array(double *pt,int size);
void show_array(double *pt, int size);
int reverse_array(double *pt, int size);

int main()
{
double amat[10];
int n;
n = fill_array(amat,10);
show_array(amat,10);
n = reverse_array(amat,10);
show_array(amat,10);
char x;
cout << "\nPress any key and Enter to exit";
cin >> x;
return 0;
}

int fill_array(double *pt,int size)
{
int i;
cout << "Enter " << size << " values\n";
for(i=0;i<size;i++)
{
cin >> pt[i];
}
return i;
}

void show_array(double *pt,int size)
{
int i;
cout << "\n\nArray values:\n";
for(i=0;i<size;i++)
cout << pt[i]<< "\t";
return;
}

int reverse_array(double *pt, int size)
{
int i;
int swap;

for(i=0;i<--size;i++) //increment i and decrement size until they meet each other
{
swap=pt[i];
pt[i]=pt[size];
pt[size]=swap;
}
return i;
}

The main problems that I have is that I don't know how to make the array stop taking values when a negative number is entered and I don't know how to do the last thing where it wants me to keep the first and last number but reverse the others.

Please help.
thank you!

Question #5:

Can someone assist me with my English essay?

Can someone help me proof the first part of my essay(Rough draft). I have to about the similarities and differences relationships between the Proctors of "The Crucible" and Anne Bradstreet"To My Dear and Loving husband". I also have to write at the end which relationship is closer to god.

Oh yeah, Can someone help me with my intro?I didn't know how to start it sucks! here ya go though.

"The crucible" and "To my dear & loving husband" are different in many ways. However, both share similarities also. It's no doubt, The narrator in Anne Bradstreet's "To my dear and Loving husband" has a stronger affection for her husband and a better relationship than the one between John and Elizabeth proctor in the crucible.

In "To My Dear and Loving Husband" The narrator explains in many ways the devotion she feels towards her husband. "In the line "My Love is such that rivers cannot quench, Nor ought but love from thee,give recompense. Thy love is such I can no way repay, the heavens reward the man fold I pray".She implies that none of the rivers in the world cannot quench the passion of her love for her husband. Her love is ever lasting. Also, even when both her husband and her pass, their love will live on.

Moreover, Bradstreet's pride and boasting is shown in line 5 of the poem " I prize thy love more than the whole mines of gold." Meaning, their love is more special than gold and other woman should admire the love her husband and she share.

On the other hand, In "The Crucible" John Proctor and Elizabeth Proctor are dealing with marital problems. Though, The Proctors are a well respected couple in the Puritan community behind close doors their marriage is strained. Elizabeth Proctor has just found out her husband has been having a secret affair with Abigail Williams. It's clear that the proctors relationship lacks and trust and contains loads of jealousy. As time goes by, Elizabeth Proctor suspects Abigail of deceit so that she may have John Proctor whom she loves, to herself. John becomes angry with the fact Elizabeth can't forgive the infidelity John has caused.

During Act IV, After 3 months of being separated Elizabeth Proctor stops judging her husband and takes the blame on her shoulders. "It takes a cold wife to prompt lechery" - where she admits her part in the infidelity. Despite that, Elizabeth still loves her husband dearly. At the end of the story, The couple makes peace with the past and forgive each other. At that moment, Elizabeth admits she wasn't a loving wife, instead, she was cold to John. Due to low self esteem and also, thoughts of her being unlovable. Though, it's too late to talk things out when John is in the mist of being hanged.

Question #6:

HELP!! Language question. "Chamora"?

I'm writing a narrative essay for my honors english class, and the prompt was to tell a story about an experience with food. I have a great idea, from when i went camping last summer. Most of the people i went camping with didn't speak fluent english. I asked them what language they spoke, and i was told it was something along the lines of "Chamora." I think they were from an island, but im not sure. I would like to know the exact name of this language. Can anybody help?? Please!

Question #7:

Dose this prove that the taxman hath a sense of humour?

This is a real reply from the Inland Revenue. The Guardian newspaper had to ask for special permission to print it.

Dear Mr Addison,

I am writing to you to express our thanks for your more than prompt reply to our latest communication, and also to answer some of the points you raise. I will address them, as ever, in order.

Firstly, I must take issue with your description of our last as a "begging letter". It might perhaps more properly be referred to as a "tax demand". This is how we at the Inland Revenue have always, for reasons of accuracy, traditionally referred to such documents.

Secondly, your frustration at our adding to the "endless stream of crapulent whining and panhandling vomit fed daily through the letterbox on to the doormat" has been noted. However, whilst I have naturally not seen the other letters to which you refer I would cautiously suggest that their being from "pauper councils, Lombardy pirate banking houses and pissant gas-mongerers" might indicate that your decision to "file them next to the toilet in case of emergencies" is at best a little ill-advised.

In common with my own organisation, it is unlikely that the senders of these letters do see you as a "lackwit bumpkin" or, come to that, a "sodding charity". More likely they see you as a citizen of Great Britain , with a responsibility to contribute to the upkeep of the nation as a whole..
Which brings me to my next point. Whilst there may be some spirit of truth in your assertion that the taxes you pay "go to shore up the canker-blighted, toppling folly that is the Public Services", a moment's rudimentary calculation ought to disabuse you of the notion that the government in any way expects you to "stump up for the whole damned party" yourself.

The estimates you provide for the Chancellor's disbursement of the funds levied by taxation, whilst colourful, are, in fairness, a little off the mark. Less than you seem to imagine is spent on "junkets for Bunterish lickspittles" and "dancing whores" whilst far more than you have accounted for is allocated to, for example, "that box-ticking facade of a university system."

A couple of technical points arising from direct queries:
1. The reason we don't simply write "Muggins"on the envelope has to do with the vagaries of the postal system;

2. You can rest assured that "sucking the very marrow of those with nothing else to give" has never been considered as practisece because even if the Personal Allowance didn't render it irrelevant, the sheer medical logistics involved would make it financially unviable.

I trust this has helped. In the meantime, whilst I would not in any way wish to influence your decision one way or the other, I ought to point out that even if you did choose to "give the whole foul jamboree up and go and live in India " you would still owe us the money.

Please send it to us by Friday.
Yours sincerely,

H J Lee

Question #8:

Help with a persuasive letter?

I need to write a good thesis for this essay prompt-

"Convince a non-profit organization to give you scholarship money for college."

I'm not sure how to do this so if ANYONE could help me I would love you forever :)

Question #9:

How can I get the DOS "edit" command in Windows 7?

I am using DOS Command prompt in Windows 7 to run a program that I have, I know how to write for the program but I am used to the XP Command Prompt with functions like "edit" where it will open a concurrent edit window within the command prompt. I have searched the help menu for the command prompt in both Windows Vista and Windows 7 and cannot find a function that will allow me to do this. Is there a way to do that or not? And if not, how do I create a new file and open it with the new DOS Command prompt.

Also, I realize that XP was a DOS based OS, and that Vista and 7 are no longer DOS, but run DOS emulators, just wondering if there are similar commands.
I am using DOS to write the input deck for the program (believe me, you would too), because from the command prompt I can (or could in XP) utilize the tools without having to leave the window.

Also, the "edit file.txt" returns "edit" is not recognized as internal or external command. so is there anyone else who can help me?
Also, I apologize for my mistake about Windows XP being DOS-based, I was misinformed. however that part of my question is not relevant to my current issue.

Question #10:

Christians: The most important human event in the universe, yet Jesus saw no need to write any of it down?

Jesus's death and resurrection: The single most important event in the universe ( for humanity), yet Jesus saw no need to leave written instructions for us. There are two logical conclusions from this.

(1) Either it was all just make believe, or
(2)Jesus's sacrifice was for "ALL mankind", regardless, and there is no need for us to know or do anything.

So my question is, why did Jesus not feel the need to write anything down or have his disciples write anything down?

Does it mean we really do not need to know or do anything in order for us all to be saved? After all, if it was arguably so important, and there WAS a requirement for us to do something in order to be "saved", surely Jesus would've written it down HIMSELF so there could be no misunderstanding about it.

But all we got was a rather shady character called Saul or Paul (who never knew Jesus while Jesus was on Earth), who began to write his opinions to various of the churches, prompting others to retaliate by writing the "gospels", all of which are secondary sources at best. Neither Jesus, nor any of the disciples with him at the time wrote anything down AT THE TIME to forward on to the rest of us.

I wonder if the whole idea of having to "do something" in order to be saved isn't some sort of confidence trick by Paul and his cohorts.

Question #11:

The wreaking havoc He takes over with vengeance and misery comes over the farm. Ultimately, the animals, the leader, and the
To begin with, the animals on Animal Farm have a huge part in this ordeal. The animals are simple minded, they follow the diabolical Napoleon without a thought they place all their trust in him.

Question #12:

I want to get one of my assembly language program solved..does anybody know any site which can do it for cost.?

This is my program..
Write a program that will allow a user to determine whether a specified integer is a prime number, or is a Fibonacci number. The program should prompt the user to select a function, P for prime or F for Fibonacci, and should repeat this prompt until a valid selection is made. Once the user has selected a function, the program should prompt the user to enter a number. The requested test should be performed on the number and the result printed out. Finally, the user is asked if they would like to repeat the process. When the user is finished, return control to the simulator. A sample dialog follows:

Question #13:

I'm trying to Create a C++ program that uses while loops. It won't compile. what esles does the program need?

Here is a is the program description:
Write a menu driven program that uses Do While loops to evaluate the following polynomials. Display the results in a table. Include column headings. The user should select from the menu the polynomial they want to evaluate and also enter the starting value for X, the stopping value for X, and the increment value.
Y=X3-2X+10
Y=X4+3X2-15
Y=X2-10
Use the following sample data to test your program.
RUN 1: Select the first polynomial and let X range from –7 to 7 in increments of 0.5.
RUN 2: Select the second polynomial and let X range from 0 to 50 in increments of 5.
RUN 3: Select the third polynomial and let X range from 5 to 10 in increments of 0.25.
RUN 4: Make an invalid select from the menu.

Question #14:

Can you help me find some quotes from the novel "their eyes were watching god"?

i have to write a paper on this topic... Analyze how Janie's character is developed through descriptions of her life, attitudes, and actions in her three marriages.

Can you please help me find 2 quotes from each of her three marriages that help address the prompt?

Question #15:

Anyone have any good essay ideas?

I'm writing a college essay as an assignment for English class, and I was hoping someone could give me some really good prompts and/or ideas to help me out. The subject of the essay is supposed to be a "risk" though, so it can't be the standard "pick me because I'm awesome" essay. Thanks so much!

Question #16:

Please Help with writing a C++ program!?

I would like to write a program that allows a user to maintain a catalog (i.e. database) of music.
The program is going to read from a data file that I will create. The data file will contain the following fields: title, artist, genre, and file name. When the program begins, it must read the entire data file into a vector containing objects of type "Song". The class "Song" must contains the fields "title", "artist", "genre" and "file name". After the catalog is read into the vector the program is not allowed to use the file until the program ends. After the program reads the catalog into a vector, it must print a menu with the following options: L (to list records), A (to add records), and D (to delete records). If the user chooses to list all records the program must iterate through the vector and print the fields of
each element in the vector using the following format:
record number (5) [tab] song (30) [tab] artist (30) [tab] genre (10) [tab] file name [newline]
1) record number indicates the position of the record in the vector
2)(#) indicates the preceding data is to be printed with width #
3) [tab] is the tab character
4) [newline] is the newline character
If the user chooses to add a record the program must prompt the user for the information necessary to
create a new Song object and add the new Song object to the vector.
If the user chooses to delete a record the program must prompt the user for a record number and then
delete from the vector the object at the position the user entered.
Before exiting the program the program must write the contents of the vector to the file mc.dat to
update the catalog.

I have the following questions and comments:
1) How do I read a data file into a vector?
2) How do I list the individual fields of the vector ("title", "artist", etc...) in the following format:
record number (5) [tab] song (30) [tab] artist (30) [tab] genre (10) [tab] file name [newline]?
3) I'd appreciate any other tips. Please Help!

Question #17:

What does freedom mean to you?

I'm writing an essay for history and the prompt is what does freedom mean to you. Any ideas are welcome and helpful!

Question #18:

Is anonymity a burden? Does hiding your true identity prevent you from enjoying your fame?

Or is it sheer bliss to be able to veil your personal life from the prying eyes of others?

London, Nov 15 (IANS) The anonymous author of three bestselling autobiographical books on a student turning to prostitution - themselves the product of a notorious blog - has been revealed to be a British research scientist.
Dr Brooke Magnanti, a hospital researcher from Bristol, told the Sunday Times she is the pseudonymous blogger of 'Belle de Jour: Diary of a London Call Girl', which was chosen by the Guardian as its blog of the year in 2003.
Her blogs were made into three books, including 'The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl', and a television serial.
Working as a high class escort girl in London, Magnanti, now 34, charged £300 an hour to clients, using the money to fund a PhD in forensic pathology, before embarking on a career researching cancer and neurotoxicology.
The Sunday Times said that until last week, not even her literary agent knew her real name.
A month ago she revealed her double-life to colleagues working at the Bristol Initiative for Research of Child Health, who were 'amazingly kind and supportive'.
She decided to reveal her identity because anonymity had become 'no fun,' she said, adding: 'I couldn't even go to my own book launch party'.
The newspaper said the petite scientist has no regrets about her 14 months as a prostitute, telling the paper's columnist India Knight: 'I've felt worse about my writing than I ever have about sex for money.'
Her blog was also made into a British TV series, prompting speculation she might be a well-known author or even a man.

Question #19:

Problem with NS2 installation under Cygwin in windows XP SP2!!!!!!?

Hello... there seems to be a problem when I am in process to run NS2.

I am running the processes on Windows XP SP2.

I had installed cygwin. Then I copied ns-allinone-2.34.tar.gz file to the directory C:\cygwin\home\Muqaddas

Then I opened cygwin command prompt
Then I typed "gzip -d -c ns-allinone-2.34.tar.gz | tar xv" to extract the ns package.
Then I typed cd ns-allinone-2.34
Then I typed ./install

After some time it got installed.

Now I went back to the directory C:\cygwin\home\Muqaddas by typing "cd"

Now I have to edit the .bashrc file in the directory C:\cygwin\home\Muqaddas

So I typed:

"pico .bashrc"

now a lot of information opened up. At the end of the file I wrote these new variables:

◦ export NS_HOME=/space/XXX/ns-allinone-2.34

◦ export PATH=$NS_HOME/tcl8.4.18/unix:$NS_HOME/tk8.4.18/unix:$NS_HOME/bin:$PATH

◦ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$NS_HOME/tcl8.4.18/unix:$NS_HOME/tk8.4.18/unix:\
$NS_HOME/otcl-1.13:$NS_HOME/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH

◦ export TCL_LIBRARY=$NS_HOME/tcl8.4.18/library

Now after I have written these variables, I want to exit from this file. I type exit.... I type ^X... etc. but it doesn't exit.

WHAT SHOULD I DO FURTHER IN ORDER TO INSTALL NS2???
