The sunkissed horizon
at the break of dawn
watcihng the waves silently rolling in
sitting on the cold sand
awaiting to feel the warmth of the morning sun
The smell of the fresh water and wet sand
the shores of the Great Lakes

The snowflakes slowly descend from the heavens
swiftly falling
side by side
only to collect on the treetops
In Northern Michigan

The rolling green hills
the feilds of vegetation
the dense woods.
The eagles wings spread fully
gliding over the treetops
spots the deer below
The deer, swiftly, gracefully, silently moving through the dense collection of dead foliage
steping over the branches and twigs that lie beneath the newly fallen snow.
Leaving behind them, the track of their hooves.

Question #5:

What poetry collections/anthologies would you recommend?

Which ones would you recommend for someone fairly new and interested in the world of poetry?

Question #6:

T.S.Eliot and practical cats? ...like a cat in the hat?

It seems my poetry learning is about to enter a deeper ELIOT phase. Just scored on a 1939 ...um..poetical cat book by T.S,Eliot. Anybody else read this collection before? Appears to be short story with much poetics involved..and in a fun loose format. ha..The things one finds in the trunk of a used car.
hiram...do you wish to eat the cat or talk to the cat ...my french is bad

Question #7:

Translating my works in English, what should I do?

I am married, live in Alencon, it's my second marriage (my first husband Charles died). With my second husband Henry I had a daughter, Jeanne. (We had a son, Jean, but he died as a baby). My parents educated me well, they were well off, and I had the best tutors, I even learned Latin. I wrote since early childhood, both poems and prose, for myself. I am very religious, so I wrote devotional and secular poetry. At last I published a a two-volume collection of my works, which included plays, lyrics, and longer poems. Then I wrote one more play ("La comedie de Mont-de-Marsan"), two long poems: Le navire ("The ship"), Les prisons. Then I wrote a collection of tales called Heptameron des nouvelles. I am fairly well known in France. But abroad, alas, they know only my Heptameron des nouvelles! Most of my poems and letters are not translated into English, for example. I'd like them to be, it will bring new audience to me, but I don't know where to start or what to do. Can the French government provide a grant for this purpose or something? What should I do?

Question #8:

Would YOU go out with me?

I know this is somewhat of an immature question, but I'm just curious to find out exactly how accurate/inaccurate my preconceptions of my "likability" or sex appeal really are. I am slightly above average neurotic and self-conscious, and my self-esteem is pretty low right now, so I figured I'd ask this question.

Okay, the following is literally taken off of my INFO tab on my personal Facebook account. Here goes:

Relationship Status:
Single

Interested In:
Women

Political Views:
Independent

Religious Views:
It's all the same God seen differently through different eyes.

Personal Information
Activities:

School and work, songwriting, political activism, love, alcoholism from a lack thereof, reading books/novels, creative writing, philosophizing about reality and solving problems with society in my mind.

Interests:

Learning, loving, making music to inspire, connecting, thinking, political debate, coffee, Red Bull, chillaxation, meditation, vacations, stand-up comedy, free movies @ Regal Cinemas; ), Roller Coasters, jogging when I have the time/will-power, answering questions on Yahoo Answers, listening to dusty old records from my collection, going record shopping, waxing on as well as waxing off, etc, etc...

Favorite Music:

Anything "blues-based", like acid rock of the late 60s, Classic Rock of the 1970s, grunge/most 90's music, retro/garage rock, Southern Rock,Bluegrass, funk, soul, ska, Reggae, the original punk rock (late 70s early 80s), some if not most of the punk rock rivial of the 1990's,british pop rock of the 1960s and otherwise, some "metal" such as system of a down, nin (actually industrial grunge in my opinion),Meshugah, Rob Zombie, or rage against the machine, some rap such as cypress hill, wutang clan (preferably old school when rap was still by the people for the people)...

I'm kinda picky about what I put into my stereo/put onto my turn-table...wouldn't want to waste a perfectly good pair of speakers/eardrums!

What I like more than any particular genre is any song that tells a good story with a good riff and/or a good rythmn (ie beat)...

Favorite TV Shows:

I mostly try not to waste my life away with television, but when I do, I tend to watch cable news programs, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart/ the colbert report, Weeds, Breaking Bad, whatev I can find while channel surfing that isn't broadcasting sexually devious and mindless propaganda (ie commercials)...

Also, Jim Carey flicks, good horror movies, and classic action/adventure movies such as Indianna Jones and Back to the Future...However, I also tend to like any movie that has a cult following.

Favorite Books:

The Art Of Happiness by the Dali Lama, which helped me to find enjoyment from every aspect of life, High Fidelity & Songbook...both by Nick Hornby, absolutely hilarious for any fan of music, Contact by Carl Sagan, a very deep philosophical and thought provoking adventure with themes such as the existance of extraterrestrials and God, The Torah by God, Aliens, or someone posing as God, a very biased approach at explaining why we exist, nevertheless still important in its ancient and widely accepted ideals, Cool Gardens by Serg Tankian, poetry for freethinkers, Dreams From My Father by President Barack Obama, a book that got me off of drugs and back into school, Stephen King's The Stand, Social Intelligence, the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling, selfexplannatory if you are a fan-if you aren't than you wouldn't understand anyway, a book called Zen Guitar that I don't remember the author's name, it helped me to "relearn" how to creatively make music without the use of drugs-as well as getting in touch with your inner imagination, Kurt Cobain Journals, tragic but fascinating, and I'm sure there are more...

Favorite Quotations:

"If there are a number of explanations for observed phenomena, the simplest explanation is preferred."
-Occam's Razor

"The leaves fall, fall as from afar...
They fall with slow and lingering descent.
And in the nights the heavy Earth, too, falls,
From out the stars into the Solitude.
Thus all must fall. This hand of mine must fall.
But there is one who holds this falling,
Infinitely softly in his hands..."
-A passage from a Hebrew Prayer Book for Yom Kippur services

[If you are reading this sentence, ]
Thanks for reading all the way through!
By the way, I did NOT "take the time to write all of this out" all at once! Are you crazy?! I add a little bit to it every now and then since I first created my account... Why, do you think I should edit it? Seriously, I'm asking lol...

Question #12:

Please recommend a book that has a special place in your heart?

I don't care if it's nonfiction, out of print, extremely long, illustrated, controversial, a collection of stories/poetry, or anything else.

The only criteria:

1- You've read it.
2- You love it. You absolutely adore it. If it were a person, you'd marry it. You think everyone in the universe should read it at least twice.

If this is the only book you could ever recommend to me, what would you recommend?

Thank you!

Question #13:

Can we compile a collection of Atheist literature and poetry?

I was thinking about how poetry can be so moving and inspiring, and was inspired by this poem Click Here

I was thinking that a complication of Atheistic poetry and literature would be a great project. I was hoping that we could scour sourced for short stories and poetry, and edit it together. The book can be self published and the proceeds can go to various causes, like the Richard Dawkins foundation, and various charities.

Question #14:

HELP ME PLEASE!! I need help finding myself, and what my porpoise is in life.?

HELP ME PLEASE!!!! I need some help finding myself, and what my porpoise is. I am a 12 year old girl who I ques is smart. (4.0) I love music, reading and writing. I also have a HUGE movie collection. I have been noticed mostly for my writing. My favorite is poetry. ( I won a couple essay contests.) But, I was never really proud of it. I was often made fun of. I am very sure that I don't want to be a writer when I grow up. ( you can cross that of your list now.) I had a very troubled family life and I was really wreaked by that for a while. I've gotten over that know and a little bit stronger. I love looking outdoors It's my favorite place to get inspiration from. Hate bugs though. Love plants. So pretty. I really like social studies too. I just think it's so interesting how people lived, thought, and acted. I could be a anthropolgist but not likely. I love to sing and see plays all the time. I am really not good in front of a lot of people criticizing me, tho. (shiver) I am really funny.( I am not kidding!) I can always find a way to make a person smile. I fit in ok at school, I just put on a happy smile every day. I have a couple friends but no best friends. But, I am doing ok in that department. And lastly I love, love. I have never been in love, and probably won't be for a very long time. It's just the idea of 2 people so happy and passionit for each other. ahhhhhh.... I could read Twilight all day! Bella and Edward for ever!! Sorry if this was long just wanted to give you some backround info, also sorry about the spelling arors. (not good at spelling!) And please don't give me a short little awnser about me being to young or "the awnser will come to you in the futcher" I have heard that soooo many times. Thank You!

Question #15:

Poetry Anthology Title?

I'm putting together a personal poetry anthology for school and I can't seem to come up with a proper title for it. Most of the poems in my collection are light-hearted and not meant to be lingered on.
Points go to the best answer.
Thanks for your help. :)

Question #16:

Is there a book that has all of Edgar Allan Poe's most famous writings?

A book of all his poems. Or the most famous ones.. Like The Raven, The Tall-tale Heart, and more? I am fascinated by his poetry, and I would like to purchase a book with writing collections.
If there is, what is it? And were can I find it?

Question #17:

Books of the old testament are lost?

It is often claimed by Christian missionaries that the Old Testament is completely preserved with little or no error at all. This is supposedly proven by the discovery of the so called Dead Sea Scrolls. However, within the texts of the old Testament themselves we find mention of books that are now all but lost. Could they have once been considered inspired, but no longer survive?

Timothy R. Ashley says:

“14-15 A citation from a source called the Book of Wars of Yahweh supports the claim made in v. 13. The exact nature of this work is “unknown”, since the only fragment of it is the poetry cited in vv. 14-15, unless the poem in vv. 17-18a is also from it. The title of the work suggests that it contained songs celebrating Yahweh’s victories against his enemies.” [1]

Matthew Henry says:

“we are not particularly told, but are referred to the book of the wars of the Lord, perhaps that book which was begun with the history of the war with the Amalekites, Ex. 17:14. Write it (said God) for a memorial in a book” [2] (emphasis added)

Jamieson, Fausset and Brown Commentary says:

“book of the wars of the Lord–A fragment or passage is here quoted from a poem or history of the wars of the Israelites, principally with a view to decide the position of Arnon.” [3]

John Gill’s Exposition on the Bible:

“Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the Lord,…. A history of wars in former times” [4]

The author of Izhar Al-Haq quotes the commentators Henry and Scott:

“Presumably this book was written by Moses for the guidance of Joshua and described the demacration of the land of Moab.” [5]

2.The Book of Jasher(Sepher Ha Yashar)

“So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, Until the nation avenged themselves of their enemies. Is it not written in the book of Jashar? And the sun stopped in the middle of the sky and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.” (Joshua 10:13)

“and he told them to teach the sons of Judah the song of the bow; behold, it is written in the book of Jashar.”(2 Samuel 1:18)

Gnana Robinson comments on 2 Samuel 1:18,

” “It is written in the Book of Jashar,” literally “the Book of the Upright”. Another poetical piece attributed to the book of this name is Josh. 10:12-14.” Similar literary collections of various sorts seem to have been circulating among the people (e.g. the Book of the Wars of Yahweh, Num. 2:14); this shows that the collection of poems was made well before Samuel was edited and written.” [6]

Rev. Prof. Herbert G. May remarks,

“The Deuteronomist makes the poem the words of Joshua, but the poem itself is non-committal as to the speaker. The Book of Jasher is also quoted in 2 Sam. 1:18, and in the LXX of 1 Kg. 8:53. It was apparently a collection of poems. Compare the Book of the Wars of the Lord (Num. 21:14).” [7]

Concerning Joshua 10:13 Jamieson, Fausset and Brown Commentary says:

“The passage, which is parenthetical, contains a poetical description of the victory which was miraculously gained by the help of God, and forms an extract from “the book of Jasher,” that is, “the upright”–an anthology, or collection of national songs, in honor of renowned and eminently pious heroes.” [8]

John Gill’s Exposition on 2nd Samuel 1:18:

“behold, it is written in book of Jasher); which the Targum calls the book of the law; and Jarchi and Ben Gersom restrain it to the book of Genesis, the book of the upright, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and suppose respect is had to the prophecy concerning Judah, Genesis 49:8, but Kimchi, extending it to all the five books of Moses, adds his blessing, in Deuteronomy 33:7. In the Arabic version it is explained of the book of Samuel, interpreted the book of songs, as if it was a collection of songs; which favours the above sense. Jerom {s} interprets it of the same book, the book of the righteous prophets, Samuel, Gad, and Nathan…” [9] (emphasis added)

Question #18:

Common theme in Plath's poetry?

I'm doing a project for school and I have to select a short collection of Sylvia Plath's poetry that all have a common theme running through them. Is there any suggestions for which poems I could pick?

Question #19:

A dream about the french poet Rimbaud and a black cat, what does it mean?

I have just woken up from a strange dream. I was talking to two Victorian gentleman who were saying how wonderful a recently created statue was. The statue was white, of a man like the Greek statues and it's head was in the clouds. The creator of the statue was Rimbaud the french poet. He shouted from the clouds saying it wasn't finished yet and then he poured green absinthe over it. Next my bollocks were grabbed by a black cat and she would not let go. It was quite painful and I woke up. What does this dream mean?

(I hav had poetry published in some of the top literary magazines in the UK and online and had two collections published and am a big fan of Rimbaud's work)

Thanks!

Question #20:
