Question regarding Seattle University?

Hey there, I attended a college fair today helping me decide which college I will be attending in about two years or so and I am curious about Seattle Univeristy...
I receieved a brochure with a few information about it and it sounds pretty good other than the fact that it's a Jesuit sort of school with religion which is not really my thing although I'm supposedly a Roman Catholic. Anyways, do you guys have any information or experiences you would like to share to me about this school or Seattle in general? Is it a cool place to reside and attend school? What's the weather like up there and the people? I live in Hawai'i so I am not used to the mainland atmosphere. I am interested in majoring in either psychology, or literature (creative writing) also...would any of you guys happen to know any good universities possibly on the far east coast such as New York or Miami or far west coast such as California or Washington that are known for majoring in those areas? If so, please let me know! All your answers and opinions are dearly respected :)!
Thanks a bunch and mahalo nui loa!

The world is such a huge place and everyday science and education are increasing. Every single person can learn and educate himself by his own way but before that people must value themselves and learn about their own capacity. Therefore I am going to write about my past experience and how did it influenced me, my environment and my life of becoming who I am.

Every person lived his childhood life remembering the old days that everyone wish to return to, every child has his own hero to dream about and my childhood hero was my uncle. The reason I mentioned my uncle because he was generous and kind, he is always there when I need help, he usually buys me gifts in my birthdays and surprises me with his jokes and sense of hummer, I always wanted to be like him. In my childhood life my uncle taught me how to think positively in life. Now, as a case in point, let’s pretend that I have failed an exam for three times, there is no need to be frustrated because I know that I have discovered three ways of failure. This kind of experience helped me and my family as well to keep going forward and never give up. People can learn from their childhood life a lot of things that they could never image how it can be useful in their future life.

Everyone has a goal and that goal is a dream and no one can convert that dream to reality till he or she breaks the weakness barrier and increases his or her strength, furthermore he or she must think critically, solve problems, use creative thinking skills and finally set goals, this way people can have the chance to reach what they dream about. I have weaknesses and strengths as everyone else. However my strengths are better because I think positively, that will help me to avoid problems, I am motivated and dedicated enough that I know exactly what I want to study and learn about. This definitely will help me in choosing my major, my career, the right place to work. Whereas my biggest weakness is the fear of lack of experience in any kind of field because no one can interact with me, furthermore I will not be able face hardships. People should not be upset about there weakness because no one is perfect and I am not perfect.

University and college is my second life in fact it’s my everyday life. Therefore I have chosen this university because it fits my goal and dreams which is to work in any field related to computer such as (networking, programming, website design…etc) that is because I enjoy learning about computer and how to use it to make my life easier. Moreover, I believe that my college fit my goals because it teaches me how to be motivated, dedicated, creative, communicative and many other things that will help not just in my major but my social life. Choosing the right path is a way of a huge success in school and life.

On the whole, everyone would like to be special and I do want to be special, what is important to know is being myself and not pretending to be someone else is the best way to represent myself because that is who I am and it’s my personality. After all I am a normal man with normal problems.
By judging the age please refer to it as the writer's skills (not mentioning that i am a college student)

Question #8:

mild ADD or something else?

During childhood I wasn't diagnosed with ADD, but maybe it just wasn't recognized. For important tests, I was usually the last one done with one of the best grades growing up. I also believed I was socially impaired, shying away from others, not speaking unless spoken to. Even when spoken to, I would say little. I was often in my own little world. But I do remember in younger years, being very happy, carefree and talkative (my family would often tell me to "press my mute button"). I would climb on furniture, my family, jump around (although I was very well behaved in school). Sometimes I would be too open with my words and receive odd looks from my friends and I wouldn't know why. My mind always seemed to be active and going off into many places, I'm a very creative person. If it wasn't for my parents I would of had problems with procrastination, now I'm in college and I have so much problems with late work and keeping on track. I often think assignments are bigger than they actually are and I put so much thought and effort into it (overdo) and think that if it's not good, then it's not worth turning in. I find myself spending hours on the computer researching things that interest me, trying to organize my room, doing little stuff that I've thought of doing or just thought up on the spot, while doing these, a different idea pops into my head and I go off and do that, etc. all the while knowing that I should be doing my work but having trouble with just getting STARTED and I get very stressed. I also underestimate the time it takes to do an assignment, often missing deadlines. It just doesn't seem appealing to my mind to work. I have always been a very messy and disorganized person. Even in my papers my ideas are scattered and I spend a lot of time trying to make everything flow. I have trouble with coordination (bad at sports, dancing, etc) and I occasionally (not all the time) bump into things, and my feet always feel very floppy, like i don't have control over them, although surprisingly I don't stumble all too often. I can't remember anything else but would all these be enough for me to get evaluated for ADD as an adult? Oh yeah, and another thing, whenever I really do try to pay my best attention in class nowadays, I find myself "zoning out" without myself realizing it (I only realize it after i've done it or while i'm doing it) and get angry at myself afterwards. It gives me headaches and my muscles tense up and my mind races all over the place. I have trouble taking notes, processing the information, shortening it to only the key points and then writing it on the paper. It seems that it takes my mind a bit longer to process information (like i said, it takes me a long time to finish tests, even though I do really well on them). So, what do you guys think? Professional or specialist feedback is highly requested. Thanks!

Question #9:

Family doesn't take my life or my career choice seriously?

I'm a writer. I have published in academic and a couple of more mainstream magazines/journals. I worked hard in high school and received a scholarship to a top 10 liberal arts college. I completed my MFA in creative writing, MA in English, and I'm currently in my last two years (hopefully) of my PHD. I have two completed manuscripts that I have faith in (and so do my professors). I know that job prospects for writers are incredibly competitive in academia and outside of academia. I know that for all the years put into getting all of my degrees, they probably won't translate into a higher income like some other more "marketable" degrees might. I know that most writers (even successful ones) don't make nearly as much money as people think. But I don't want to do anything else. Writing and analyzing literature is my passion. It seems like every time I go home or call my family, they are trying to convince me to abandon what I've been working toward. They've never made an effort to read any of my stories or articles. I don't know. It just makes me incredibly depressed sometimes that my family doesn't acknowledge me.

Question #10:

Environmental topics for paper?

I am stuck on a topic for an environmental paper I have to write for a senior level college course. It a creative writing of sorts, but I have been in the biology world for so long that I cannot fathom writing anything that doesn't follow the strict scientific paper outline. So I come to you all holy Yahoo Answers, what are some good environmental topics out there that arn't overly used and still slightly interesting.

A bit about things i am interested in that could possibly morph into good topics. I work and train horses, I am an avid cyclist, I enjoy photography and exploring country roads. I go to a rural university. I am actively involved in both MN and WI environmental programs. I knit more then the average grandmother.

I would like something closely related to my interests so I can be enthusiastic about it. I am sick, sick SICK of Wolves on the endangered species list, "going green" and lead tackle (being I wrote a 32 page paper on it last semester, and it was anything but creative writing)

I look forward to hearing what you can come up with.

Question #11:

College course/degrees where Maths isn't part of the syllabus at all?

I started a Journalism degree when I was 20, but had to leave due to illness, over the years I've realised I'm not as good at Journalism as I thought I was back then (it was all wishful thinking haha).
I work in a really rubbish entry level dead end job right now and I want to go back to college and get a degree. But I'm not sure what in.

Maths really isn't my strong point and I don't want to join a course that has any Mathematics in it whatsoever (if possible!!)

Other than Creative Writing and Journalism, what are some courses I can do that do not involve Math?
- That isn't technically true, I didn't have a single Journalism class all the while I took that as a major.

Question #12:

Is being a screenplay writer a good career choice?

I have been into film for years, but never knew which part I wanted to do. I liked doing everything, but if I want to make it in the film industry I have to pick something whether it's being a D.P. or video editor. My mom keeps telling people that I want to be a director , but I really don't wish to do that and i don't understand why she keeps bragging about me so much when I haven't created much yet. All my life I have been pretty creative, and do a little writing. Thats why I have thought about studying screenplay writing in college.

If anyone has feed back about being a screenplay writer and can give me the pros and cons about it I would greatly appreciate it. If anyone knows about colleges and teen workshops that specialize in screenplay writing I would greatly appreciate that too. I've looked up a few by myself, but I haven't found much.

Question #13:

community college classes?

I am having a difficult time deciding on my courses for community college since my adviser was of no help at all. Anyway I will be working on a A.A degree with an Emphasis in Creative Writing. With that in mind in the future I also want to major in Library Sciences. I am trying to figure out what classes to take that would fit sort of within the Library Sciences and am completely dumbfounded as to what I should choose. Any ideas?

Question #14:

I'm 13 years old and I want to start a bussiness...?

My friend and I really want to earn money to save up on things we really like. I am a a fairly good artist, and I always wanted to create a comic book series. I need a certain software and tools for that. I also want to save money for college, or maybe a future car. My family can't get all that, so my friend and I decided to start a business! Today, we brainstormed a lot of ideas and we both realized that we had good gardening skills. So we wanted to do yard service.
A few hours later, I found out that it can be difficult to maintain a business, and I was worried that people won't take us seriously. Besides, I'm a short person, so people might think I'm a clueless kid.
I want to be a businesswoman when I grow up, and I want to look back at this when I'm 30 and knowing that I was a serious, hardworking girl. I would also know that this is where I started, and I can look at my successful business in the future.
My problem is, I don't know the right way to advertise, how much money I should charge, how to deal with stingy people, how to make this all work! I'm also having trouble on what we should name our business. We both have different names and if I try to combine them, it will look like a mutant heap of letters. Of course, I'm not going to call this "Amanda's Yard Service" (My names Amanda) because what about Izzy, my friend?
As for advertising, should we print out fliers and put them in every mailbox in our neighborhood? We don't have colored ink! Or should we advertise in a different way? Oh, and our yard service offers lawn mowing, weed pulling, grass and bush trimming, plant watering, and everything that your yard would want! We have all the tools we need for this, and we love nature so it would be nice to care for it. We are thinking about charging two dollars to mow a small lawn and three dollars to mow a big lawn. We want our prices to be cheap because that will attract customers, and the economy isn't doing well (at least that's what the president says, I'm not very fond with economy) and since we're just young teens, people aren't gonna pay thirty bucks per lawn. And how do I deal with stingy and rude people? I'm really stressed about this and I need to know the ins and outs and pros and cons of what I'm about to endure.
I'm hardworking, determined, skilled, creative, and my friend is to. So if you don't feel like writing much, then just give me a useful website in which I can refer to. (Not the ones with popping, flashing, ads and/or outdated and bad info.) I will take the time to read all of your answers!
Please, please. I am in desperate need of help! I really appreciate those of you who took the time to acknowledge my question and hand me a great answer.

PS: Even after we get enough money for what we need, my friend says that she doesn't want to do it anymore after wards. But I think that we should keep on doing the business, as it will be educational and we can save up for more money to get more things. How do I convince her to do this?
And also, for example, if someone wanted us to do their lawn for two dollars, should we include that they pay us each? As in, they pay me two dollars and Izzy two dollars, so instead, they actually pay four dollars? Or should it be that they pay us two dollars and we split the profit and each of us have one dollar? Do you agree with our pricing? Do you think we should reduce it or increase it? Oh, and our pricing should be an even number so we can split the money. Please, I really want to know!

Thank You! :)

Question #15:

I have to read a short creative nonfiction HELP?

I'm looking online for a short creative nonfiction to read for my college class. I need to read it and write about it before 9am tomorrow! Help me! I cannot find one online and it's really important that I do.

Question #16:

Can a person's query be rejected on the basis that they do not have any previous credentials?

I have written a novel and am currently in the long (dreadful) process of editing it. The thing that may be a problem if I so choose to approach the topic of publishing is the fact that I do not have any credentials. I am seventeen, and don't have any small time credentials, nor in college exploring creative writing or English studies. I am actually a nursing student. The only thing remotely creative I have done are drama classes. Does anyone know if this may hurt me when I approach literary agents?

Question #17:

how to get back at parking cops?

At the college I go to, the parking and transportation people are crazy! I bought a permit for a few hundred dollars to park on campus, but it doesnt matter for the metered parking. I walked out to my car and saw one of these parking cops standing at the meter, just waiting for it to run down. I quickly went to my car, but he wrote a ticket and walked off with a smirk on his face. The ticket had 1:01 PM written on it, and I was in my car at 1:02. Anyone have any creative ideas for how to get back at them?

Question #18:

Can someone tell me how the opening paragraph to my college essay is?

Bathroom thinking is highly underrated. Too often the bathroom is looked down upon by people – like my parents, as a very crude and unhygienic place to think. To them, you should go into the bathroom, do what you must, and promptly get out. I think it’s safe to say that I strongly disagree with the notion that the bathroom is only useful for fulfilling physiological needs. Quite often I will find myself sitting in the bathroom sometimes for up to thirty minutes just thinking about various things, such as figuring out whether or not a certain teacher dislikes me, and debating the answer to a question on an exam. Sometimes these thinking sessions would even cause strokes of genius within my mind. One example of said stroke of genius was writing my poem titled “A Cloggy Situation” which resulted from my frustration with coming up with one last poem for my Creative Writing class, and also with a clogged toilet.

please don't plagiarize.

Question #19:

Having difficulty choosing the right major for me, any help?

In about a year I will be applying for college, and by that point I hope to have a major in mind. For so many years I have been trying to decide but I always face the same problem.

I am not trying to brag or be conceited, but I know that I am very intelligent. My parents have encouraged me to get a degree in engineering and I am taking classes for that and doing well.

However, I feel that I have this greater pull toward the arts (and to a certain degree, more skill). I have always wanted to be a journalist, but I know that they do not make the most money or have the best options. Also, I play an instrument and love it, so I was considering being a music teacher. In a way, I think I should just do something writing or music based because I like it so much but I also think it may be a poor decision because I have the capability of getting a science or medical related degree and making a much better living.
Also, I really feel inspired to help others such as through social work; however, this field seems to have the same problems (to me) as the more creative ones do.

Sorry for the long question, but does anybody have any advice on which majors I should look into; I'm worried that I would be "wasting" my intelligence and making my life harder if I chose certain majors/careers. Thanks for any help! :)

Question #20:

do you like people who have messed up backgrounds?

i like a girl in my creative writing class at college, and when we were talking, i found out she used to be a cutter, and that actually made me like her more. does anyone else feel this way?
